Corpus Christi Feast

by Onesumus Nyamai - Faith Formation Department

It is a custom in our parish; all the children who are baptized on Easter receive first Holy Communion on the feast of Corpus Christi. This is to give a special honor to this feast. This year the feast was preceded by special preparations; we conducted an interview for those to receive Holy Communion whereby 118 children were interviewed. Among them only 83 children passed the interview.

A day before the feast we had a recollection in the parish to prepare for this great event in their lives. This included confessions, Bible reflection and other spiritual exercises.

On Sunday 6th June 2010 we had a colorful feast; with beautiful decorations in the church, organized choir with nice and relevant songs. The church welcomed the first holy communicants with tremendous joy. The day was culminated with a procession of the Blessed Sacrament around the church compound. Later they proceeded with celebration at home with their parents and sponsors. It was really a special day for them to receive body and blood of Jesus Christ for the first time… king of kings’ lord of lords entering into their hearts…

“I am the living bread which came down from heaven…” (Jn 6, 51)

Our God is truly with us on the ground in the Blessed Sacrament. Let us come together to adore and to worship Him.
