Endorsing the Devolved Government
by Human Rights Department
The first civic education seminar was held on 24th August 2011 to sensitize people in Kibera Community about the new constitution, counties and the senate since next year we will be having general elections. The seminar was held in aspirations of people who had attended the seminar would educate others in the community.
A person who is deeply involved in the devolved government was invited for this course and most leaders in the community attended, including Muslims.
Njoroge, the coordinator of peace building in the department said, “Kibera should be transformed by its residents. We are the people who elect parliamentarians, so we should elect people who will serve us and not vice versa”.
Christians and Muslim leaders should sensitize people about the transparency general elections and the new constitution, which is still under implementation.
The Human Rights department has been going to the sub-parishes to educate parishioners about peace and aspires to hold more civic education workshops.
